Adi Da watched a variety of media including movies, sports events, documentaries and news programs. I understand He watched these as conduits for His Transcendental Blessing Work and sometimes specifically in conjunction with His Work with The Basket of Tolerance. Over the years, I was Blessed to watch a number of movies and sports events with Him. I recall a few of these below.

During the 1990s, in the entry room of the Manner Of Flowers (His House), Adi Da and a number of devotees (the room was jam packed with devotees) watched the movie “Pink Flamingos”. Julie (my intimate partner) and I were very close to the projection screen and Adi Da was seated further back in the room. It was a mad, uproarious occasion in the Master’s Company! Every time I and others cringed at the confronting nature of the movie, I turned to face Adi Da who was Laughing, seemingly Enjoying the movie and His Play with devotees! I experienced a combination of overwhelming delight in His Company and in receiving the infusion of His Spiritual Transmission and at times, an overwhelming disgust with the confronting nature of the movie!

Another time, Adi Da watched (again during the 1990s in the Manner Of Flowers) the movie “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America”, this time alone with Julie and me. He likened Julie to Beavis and He likened me to Butt-Head. Adi Da, numerous times, throughout the movie, made it clear to me directly that the character of Butt-Head epitomized something about my character. At first I was bemused; how could I be similar to the depraved character of Butt-Head?! As the movie progressed it began to dawn on me that yes, my significantly less than Realized State and my interest in sex and low level life matters pointed to characteristics that were well represented by Butt-Head! This Gift of reflection has continued to provide insight to contemplate and understand and measure against. It was an immense Blessing to be with Him so intimately and to receive His Personal Blessing Regard whilst, at the time, it really did my head in that He was pointing out the similarities Butt-Head shared with me and likewise, Beavis with Julie!

In 1997, Adi Da was temporarily living in a house in Los Angeles. A number of devotees gathered with Him to watch the Tyson Holyfield fight in which Tyson bit off a part of Holyfield's ear. It was a mad, energetic gathering of devotees with their Divine Master. Most devotees in the room and Adi Da decided to back Holyfield to win. One devotee broke ranks and backed Tyson. Interestingly, before the fight started, Julie said to me “something unusual is going to happen in the third round of this fight”. It turned out to be an intuition of what was about to unfold. In the lead up to watching the fight, a devotee invited Adi Da to sit in a new Darshan Chair he had made as a gift to Adi Da. Adi Da obliged and soon thereafter, to everyone's shock, the chair broke and Adi Da ended up on the floor! As I recall, it wasn't a problem, Adi Da was unhurt and He seemed somewhat Divinely Bemused and Amused. It all seemed to be symptomatic of the madness of the occasion. When Tyson bit Holyfield's ear; Adi Da was Speechless! He looked around the room at all of us who were present, understandably in Amazement at what we had just witnessed!

In all of these occasions of being in close proximity to Adi Da, I felt and experienced it as a reality consideration. The challenge was, will you remain open hearted, in communion with Adi Da or will you react and maintain your egoic stance. This reality consideration is constant and never ending.
